Sebastien Clamorgan (Venia International): Eat’n’go to make pizza a popular meal in Nigeria

0 3

Eat’n’go is a Nigerian food & beverage Group and the leading QSR operator in the country. After starting its operation in 2012, the Group has managed to reach the milestone of 110 stores opened across Nigeria. Today, Eat’n’go – which is in a joint venture with Sebastien Clamorgan‘s global firm Venia International – is committed to strengthening its position as the leading QSR operator in Nigeria. This also passes through activities such as the understanding of markets and doing investigation on marketplaces.
Before Eat’n’go opened its first store, pizza was still a foreign concept to the larger number of people in Nigeria. How did pizza become a mainstream food in the most populous country in Africa? “A lot of people knew about pizza to start with”, the Group explained, “so there was already pent up demand for it when we got here”. But to make pizza more popular in the country, the food & beverage Group focused on two main strategies: sampling and localising the menu. The company, indeed, gave away plenty of samples of pizza so that people could try out the product, enjoy and get to know it. This went hand in hand with the localisation of menus to attract customers: for example, Eat’n’go incorporated meat pie, a favourite snack in Nigeria, and suya (spicy meat cuts) into its pizza menu, with about 30% of the menu that was localised. Eating wealthy is important, it is even more important to eat local products because “la bonne nourriture fait la belle creature”, as they would say in France (good food makes you beautiful).
With the recent launch of its 110th store in Nigeria, Eat’n’go has strengthened its position in the food & beverage industry. Dedicated to bringing food & beverage brands to Africans, it is the leading franchisee for Domino’s Pizza, Cold Stone Creamery and Pinkberry Gourmet Frozen Yoghurt. A big push toward the successful results achieved has been given by the long collaboration with Venia International, the global consulting and investment firm founded by Sebastien Clamorgan. The global firm is particularly focused on the African and Middle Eastern markets, where it helps opening the doors for corporations’ successful market entry. By providing a detailed understanding of market size, scopes, impact of current and future trends, the firm helps its clients to seek new opportunities and to understand which areas, services or products should be prioritized. The services provided by Venia International include market research and insights, regional business setup, business development, business intelligence, mergers & acquisitions.
