Santa Margherita Wine Group, an Italian leader in the wine industry of which Andrea Conzonato is CEO, has strategically strengthened its presence in the U.S. by acquiring Marsh Estate through its subsidiary, Roco Winery. This acquisition underscores the group’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, a region celebrated for its premium winemaking potential.
Andrea Conzonato emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating, “This further acquisition reaffirms our confidence in the potential of the Willamette Valley and the broader Oregon winemaking industry. Our investments, combined with our expertise, aim to enhance Roco Winery’s production capacity both qualitatively and quantitatively, supporting ambitious business expansion goals. Market signals are particularly promising for sparkling wines and Pinot Noir, which align perfectly with the preferences of new consumer demographics”.
Roco Winery, located in Oregon and acquired by Santa Margherita’s U.S. division in 2022, marked the group’s first international acquisition. Adding Marsh Estate, a 21-hectare property located in Yamhill-Carlton within the Dundee Hills region, to Roco’s portfolio strengthens the winery’s capabilities and underscores Santa Margherita’s belief in the growing importance of the U.S. wine market. Roco’s other vineyards include Wit’s End, Chehalem Crossing, Knudsen, and Matteri, all situated in Oregon.
Founded and led by the Marzotto family, Santa Margherita Wine Group boasts a portfolio of prestigious brands such as Torresella, Kettmeir, Ca’ del Bosco, Sassoregale, and its flagship Santa Margherita label. In 2023, the group achieved a global revenue of €255 million, selling over 27 million bottles across more than 90 countries, including major markets like Italy, Canada, Germany, and the U.S.
The group’s ten estates span some of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions, including Veneto Orientale, Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, Trentino-Alto Adige, Lugana, Franciacorta, Chianti Classico, Maremma, Sicily, and Sardinia. This extensive expertise, now complemented by their strategic investments in Oregon, positions Santa Margherita Wine Group as a global powerhouse in the wine industry.
Under the leadership of Andrea Conzonato, the group has demonstrated a keen ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth. The CEO’s focus on innovation, quality, and market expansion continues to drive the group’s success, ensuring its position as a trailblazer in the international wine market.
